What to Expect

For Your Appointment

Please bring:

  • Your current insurance card.
  • A government-issued photo ID.
  • Any relevant notes, diagnostic test results and/or x-rays.
  • A form of payment since we collect copays and deductibles at the time of service. Our office accepts cash, checks, Mastercard, VISA, Discover, American Express and Care Credit.
  • If your insurance requires a referral from your primary care provider (PCP) to see a specialist, please bring the referral to your appointment. You may also call us to see if we have received it directly from the PCP's office. Failure to obtain a referral, when required, may result in the appointment being rescheduled.
  • Inform our office and your insurance company of any address or telephone number changes. Outdated information may cause a delay in the processing of claims.

What About Insurance?

Medical care has never been as advanced as it is today, nor has it ever been so complicated. The typical doctor’s office maintains relationships with dozens of insurance companies, managed care organizations, primary physician’s organizations and other payers. Each has its own set of requirements concerning payment, patient co-payment and pre-authorization requirements. Please refer to the Contracted Insurance List to see a list of some of the insurances we take.

We want to work with you to assure that the care you receive is consistent with your insurance provider’s requirements. Since you, as the patient, are financially responsible for the cost of the care we provide you, North Valley ENT believes it is in your best interest to be actively involved with your insurance provider through this process. We try our best to verify each patient’s eligibility and benefits prior to their appointments. However, it is ultimately the patient’s responsibility to contact their insurance carrier to verify whether the provider they are scheduled with is in network with their insurance. We also encourage you to learn about your benefits and their limitations. If applicable, be prepared to pay your insurance co-payment or deductible at the time of service. It is also wise to be informed of any benefit restrictions due to pre-existing conditions. Find out if you have a deductible and whether or not it has been met, so you will be prepared if necessary to pre-pay some of the cost of your surgery.

Completing the Portal

Please ensure that your patient portal is complete before your upcoming appointment with us. We must have an email on file for you to set up the patient portal. Once sent, the link will prompt you to create a password. If you have not received the email, please reach out, so we can resend it. You may contact us by phone or by using our secure messaging platform - Klara (see below). If you are unable to pre-register prior to the appointment, please arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment to complete it on one of our kiosks.

After clicking the link, you will select “Patient” and enter your phone number. It will send a verification code to that phone number. Once verified, it will direct you to the home page where you can select “NORTH VALLEY EAR, NOSE AND THROAT ASSOCIATES, P.C.” You will select the patient you would like to communicate about and send your message.

Once we respond to your message, you will be notified with the following: You have a new message from NORTH VALLEY EAR, NOSE AND THROAT ASSOCIATES, P.C. Click here to reply: (insert link). It will ask you to verify your date of birth since it is an encrypted message and HIPAA-compliant.

No Show/Cancellation Policy

Patients will be charged a $50.00 fee for no shows or appointments cancelled within 48 hours. Surgical cases that are cancelled within 1 week of the surgery will also be charged a fee of $200.00. We reserve the right to not reschedule your appointment and/or discharge you from the practice at our discretion.
